The project

Wood Wharf is a new district in Canary Wharf which is creating a vibrant new urban quarter. Constructed by Canary Wharf Group, this mixed-use scheme at 10 George Street was developed as a glass and aluminium tower with a stepped roofscape overlooking the Canary Wharf basin and a new waterside park.

The bathroom pod solution

Offsite Solutions was awarded the £4.5 million contract to manufacture high-specification bathroom pods for the new private rental apartment tower.

This prestigious waterside development was the first application of our new steel and concrete pods, which provide a fully waterproofed solution for luxury wet rooms and bathrooms.

We supplied 443 pods for 327 private rental apartments for the iconic 35-storey tower and the adjacent six-storey building. These were a combination of wet rooms and bathrooms.

The pod design featured cold-rolled steel-framed walls with a cast concrete base, which removed the need for visible shower trays to create a clean and contemporary appearance.

The pods arrived on site fully fitted, complete with:

  • Underfloor heating
  • Stone-effect porcelain tiling
  • Bespoke cabinets with heated steam-free mirrored doors
  • Handmade composite stone basins
  • LED lighting
  • Sanitary ware and Hansgrohe brassware
  • Ceiling and wall-mounted rain shower heads
  • Surface-heated wall to remove the need for heated towel rails

The customer perspective

“Bathroom pods gave us the benefit of better quality control and ease of installation. Our requirement was for high specification bathrooms. We were impressed with Offsite Solutions’ factory, design team, logistics and pre-delivery testing. It was great to have the pods manufactured in the UK and the project went very well. The service from Offsite Solutions was faultless and second to none.”

– Leighton Aurelius, Project Manager, Canary Wharf Contractors
